MEMBER BENEFITS AND SERVICES

CONTRACT INFORMATION

In order for a gig to be a union gig, you must file a union contract. Here are the services relating to contracts:

WAGE SCALES:
Members participate in the establishment of minimum wage scales and working conditions for all types of musical employment. Union contracts require compliance with these scales and insure that musicians are not exploited.

PENSION PLAN:
Employer paid contributions to the American Federation of Musicians - Employers Pension Fund are a part of several Local 12 Collected Bargaining Agreements. Vesting requires contributions on $1500 of earned wages in each of 5 consecutive years.

CONTRACT GUARANTEE FUND:
The union will pay Local 12 musicians unpaid scale wages for engagements performed in our jurisdiction if a proper contract is filed with the Local prior to the engagement.

PRE-PRINTED, LEGAL CONTRACTS:
Contracts suitable for all types of engagements are available free of charge. These easy to use contracts contain appropriate language for the resolution of disputes and provide protection for both musicians and purchaser. When properly signed and filed, they are enforced by the union and its attorneys.

NEGOTIATED AGREEMENTS:
Local 12 currently has CBA agreements with the Sacramento Philharmonic, the Fresno Philharmonic, the Modesto Symphony, and California Musical Theatre.

AFM MUSICIANS REFERRAL SERVICE:
Through advertising in the Yellow Pages and other publications, our referral service staff matches purchasers and musicians throughout the Central California Area. Just fill out the fact sheet and send it in along with the promotional material for your musical act. The more we know about what you have to offer, the easier it will be to match you with a purchaser. All referral gigs utilize Union Contracts.
